Values and Mission

Our Purpose

At Border Christian College, we exist to reveal Jesus in all we do – sharing His love, hope, peace and joy through Christ-centred learning and relationships.

The Border Christian College philosophy of education is Christ-centred. We believe that Jesus is the ultimate example of ‘love in action’ and He wants us to do likewise. As such, the education program at Border Christian College is a vital ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is committed to sharing God’s life-transforming love.

We believe Jesus relates to us personally, showing us the ultimate example. His love and grace are the foundation of our relationship with Him. Therefore, Border Christian College seeks to reveal Jesus and nurture all “… to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8 CSB). We are children of Christ and He says to us all, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” (John 15:4 ESV).

By daily abiding in Jesus, we can find purpose, hope, and joy, even during difficult times.

As such, Border Christian College strives to be transformative. It seeks to impart more than academic knowledge through the balanced development of the whole person: spiritually, mentally, socially, and physically. It seeks to develop a life of faith in God and a respect for the dignity of all people. It seeks to guide students “to be thinkers, and not mere reflectors of other people’s thoughts” (White, E. Education,1903). It promotes loving service rather than selfish ambition; and it embraces all that is true and good.

Our college seek to be thriving, nurturing, learning communities where Jesus is central, and where our students may become all that God intends them to be.

Our belief about Christian education is biblically based with an unashamed desire to emulate the life of Jesus Christ. Thus, the aim of Adventist education in Australia is to create an educational environment that makes it more likely that each student will accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and friend.

Adventist education is built on the belief that each student is unique and of immeasurable value. It values the importance of the systematic development of the whole person. Students are taught to accept the concept of service as a principle of life; to be sensitive to the needs of people; and to become contributing members of their home, church, and society.
